Though my first published story is a children's tale, in college I focused on writing horror fiction. I wasn't very good at it--all "gotcha" without understanding character or voice. But I was young.
In the 1990s, I wrote a lot of non-fiction, gaming articles, and weird erotica. I grew bored of the latter, and returned to speculative fiction by the time the 21st century arrived.
These days I write mostly young adult fiction.
